Peak Performance Fine Arts Festival
The second annual Peak Performance Fine Arts Festival is scheduled for April 29, 2017, at Parkway Christian Academy and Parkway House of Prayer, 3230 King Street, Roanoke, VA 24012. This event is in honor of a beloved musician, inspirational teacher, and dear friend of the school, Donna Peak, who lost her battle with cancer in 2016.
First and second place cash prizes will be awarded to winners in each of three age divisions for the following events: Instrument Solo, Vocal Solo, and Duet/Ensemble for Inspirational Music/Hymns/Praise & Worship Music, as well as Artwork (Painting/Drawing), Photography, and Sculpture. Prize money is received from donations of local businesses, churches, and individuals and distributed by Parkway Christian Academy as a way of giving back to the community, recognizing student accomplishments in 1st through 12th grades, and coming together in celebration of music, arts, and life.
The theme for the art, photography, and sculpture events is “A Shelter in The Time of Storm.” This symbolizes the hope we can find in the dark days and stormy days we all face in life.
All events are open to any area student in 1st through 12th grades. Contestants may enter multiple events. There is a $15 entry fee for one event and $12 fee for each additional event entered per participant. This fee goes toward paying for qualified, non-partial judges, event costs, and cash awards. All fees and registration forms must be submitted by the registration deadline of April 15th.
Music participants will perform in the sanctuary at Parkway House of Prayer on April 29, 2017, from 9:00 am until noon. Art, sculpture, and photography participants will display their works of art in the PCA gymnasium that day. Performances and art displays are open and free to the public.
