Before coming to PCA, Martha taught in Hanover County as a 2nd grade teacher and as a gifted resource specialist. She was then a teacher for the Roanoke City PLATO program (self-contained, gifted education classes) for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades; there, she also acted as a gifted resource specialist for elementary.
Martha has been married to her husband, Kevin Spencer, also a fellow teacher, for 21 years. They have two sons, Edward, 17, and John, 15, who attend PCA. The family are active members at Rainbow Forest Baptist Church.
Her hobbies include cooking, gardening, and playing the violin. She even offers violin lessons to our students here at PCA. She also enjoys attempting crafty, home projects.
Martha’s personal educational mission
“My mission is to help young people discover who they are in Christ and to fulfill the great purpose He has for their lives. In helping them to realize and develop their abilities, I desire for students to see that, with God, all things are possible.”
