Deanna Ward has been a teacher at PCA since the Fall of 2012. This year, after much prayer, Deanna accepted a position as our Charis Program Teacher, helping students in grades K-12, reach their highest potentials.
She came to us after receiving her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Radford University and having taught in Roanoke City Schools as a Title I teacher. Deanna was also an ABA Therapist and an Inclusion Teacher at the Blue Ridge Autism Achievement Center in Roanoke.
Deanna is married to Joel Ward, a youth pastor at Franklin Memorial Baptist Church, where the family are members. Deanna and Joel have two children, Kara and Camden, who attend PCA in the 5th and 2nd grades respectively. They also host a foreign exchange student, Peter, whom they consider their “temporary son”. Peter will be in the 10th grade at PCA this year.
Deanna’s favorite past times are to read and to visit the beach. Her favorite author is Max Lucado. She also enjoys playing the piano in her spare time, running, exercising, spending time with her family, and making memories.
Deanna’s personal educational mission: “I desire each student to be who God has created and shaped them to be. I hope to help them bring out their abilities and use them in the best way they can. I desire for them to be creative in their learning. I want each student to complete a task with confidence and knowing they can achieve their own goals in school and in their community.”
